The evening begins with a welcome drinks reception, followed by a three-course dinner with complimentary wine. Dinner will be followed by the awards ceremony and entertainment.

Justin Moorhouse is not just Young Kenny – the one with the Tiger Face from Phoenix Nights.

Moorhouse started his career as a salesman for many years before contacting a comedy club, the Frog and Bucket in Oldham Street, Manchester and performing a stand up comedy routine, aged 29.

In 2002, he competed in a local comedy competition held at the Southern pub in Chorlton, winning the final held at the Comedy Store Manchester. Soon afterwards, he performed in a comedy tour, before getting the role of Young Kenny, in Phoenix Nights. Although Young Kenny is a Manchester City supporter, Moorhouse himself supports their rivals, Manchester United. From these humble beginnings, he went on to act on ‘Coronation Street’ and branded TV and online campaigns for Manchester United, O2 and DFS.

He presented live from the Olympics in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 for Team GB and DFS. He has performed stand-up comedy on television several times, including several series of The Comedy Store (Comedy Central) and One Night Stand (Dave) and was Michael McIntyre’s guest on his Blackpool leg of Comedy Roadshow (BBC1), as well as more recently on ‘Richard Osman’s House of Games, Qi, and Live At The Apollo.

Justin is a new firm favourite in Dictionary Corner on C4’s Countdown, and you’ll hear him regularly on Radio 4’s The News Quiz and as a Champion of Champions on BBC 5Live’s Fighting Talk, as well as his weekly contributions to the Warm Up on Talk Sport with Max Rushden and Barry Glendenning on Sunday mornings. As an Awards’ host, Justin uses his cheeky, irreverent, yet professional approach to entertain audiences, proving a popular choice all over the UK and internationally, so Justin will definitely bring the atmosphere and energy throughout the evening.

Derek Redmond

Derek Redmond is a former elite athlete turned high-performance motivational speaker, widely recognised for his resilience and determination. As Barack Obama once highlighted, his story represents “moments when the human spirit triumphs over injury.”
 
After a decorated athletics career, Derek went on to hold senior roles including Group Performance Director at Thomas International, and now delivers keynote speeches on resilience, diversity and inclusion, leadership, and building high-performance teams.
 
Derek first broke the British 400m record in 1985 and went on to win Gold in the 4x400m relay at the 1986 European Championships, followed by Silver at the 1987 World Championships and Gold at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo. His most iconic moment came at the 1992 Olympic Games, where, despite tearing his hamstring mid-race, he courageously finished with the support of his father. After retiring from athletics in 1994, he transitioned into professional basketball, playing for the Birmingham Bullets and representing England, competing alongside legends like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

Beyond sport, Derek has built an impressive career in performance coaching and leadership, serving as Director of Development for UK Athletics, CEO of Olympex, and a non-executive board member at the University of California, Los Angeles alumnus and author of Sport Is A Business and Business Is A Sport, he has spoken to over one million people worldwide.

After-show Entertainment

Formed in 2010 and able to perform a diverse range of styles while specialising in covers of classic soul, motown, disco, funk and pop hits, LeFunk! is one of the best Manchester bands on the circuit.

The name is a nod to the classic hit ‘Le Freak’ by Chic.

From the airport, take the M56, follow signs for A5103 City Centre M60 North and M62.

Take A6 exit towards Stockport, Sheffield, Piccadilly.

Follow signs for Wilmslow Universities, continue on A34.

Take Charles St to Oxford Rd and hotel will be visible.

Greater Manchester’s rail connections mean it’s easy to get here from anywhere in the country.

From Piccadilly Train station, head West along Fairfield Street which will then continue into Whitworth Street. Upon reaching the Whitworth Street and Oxford Street junction with the Palace Theatre on your right hand side turn left where you will find the entrance of the hotel on your left.

From Oxford Road station, walk down the station approach. Turn right and the hotel is directly opposite.
